Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) signed Revision 2 of the Maintenance Implementation Procedures (MIP) on September 9, 2025. The revision becomes effective on January 7, 2026.
The MIP provides the framework for reciprocal acceptance and recognition of each authority’s aviation regulatory requirements for the performance and certification of aeronautical products.
Revision 2 introduces several important updates, including:
- Changes to inspection and investigation authorities, and amended definitions.
- Updated provisions for maintenance release following major repairs and modifications, including reporting instructions.
- Updates to line maintenance activities, technical instructions, acceptable technical data, and guidance on Suspected Unapproved Parts.
- New requirements related to major repairs or alterations.
Aircraft Maintenance Organizations (AMOs) holding an approved FAA Supplement to maintain and certify maintenance on American registered aircraft should review Revision 2 and update their FAA Supplement accordingly to ensure continued compliance.
