Aviation Regulatory Issues

The aviation industry is everchanging and regulations are often outdated or unresponsive to the demands of the aviation industry or economy. When new modes of operation appear that fall beyond the imagination of the regulator, the only legal way to permit the operation to proceed can be through exemptions. Exemptions can relate to a variety of subject matter, including unique traffic movements and cabotage, to basing a foreign registered aircraft in Canada. At times, a regulator may choose to change a long-standing interpretation, leaving operators or the public in a lurch.
